kathryn's mom in awe of tobias putrih's Re-projection: hoosiac
over the past week or so, i've managed to visit quite a few shows. beginning with an impromptu venture to mass moca with kathryn and her mom. kathryn and i had been planning to get up there before the end of february when the petah coyne and material worlds exhibitions come down; being that the beginning of the semester is right around the corner with the first few weeks packed with events, and kathryn's show second year show is on the horizon, sooner was better than later. the exhibitions were certainly worth the lengthy trip up to north western mass., sadly photos were not allowed in the petah conye show, but here is a
link with information. good lord, the magic she can work with just wax, silk flowers, feathers, beads, and velvet, all of which can take on horrendous aesthetics if not handled properly, is incredible. i was also enamored with the fact that she listed every material in her artworks. no material is insignificant.

in other events, as stated above, kathryn is preparing for her second year solo exhibition. i am super stoked to see everything come together, so far, it is fantastic. we are also getting ready for the beginning of term on monday, it will be nice to be back to classes, though this unfettered studio time will be sorely missed. finally, i've been looking into heather rowe's work. expect a post devoted to her and her artwork in the coming days.
