summer time and the living is easy ?

kathryn: "yeah, so that blog of yours. the one you are supposedly keeping up to date every week..."
me: "i know, i know. i'm having trouble just keeping up to date with my life. i'm planning to update tonight."

an hour passes

me: under my breath, blog.
kathryn: 'bout time.
me: after a tot (of the tater variety).

alas, dear reader, i am back after several weeks and a few tater tots. according to the academic calendar summer has arrived, finally. the semester finished with a bang, sort of. after a seemingly never-ending term, final crits rounded out the second year and proved once again that i am among some wickedly brilliant and talented friends, for which i am eternally thankful for. once final critiques passed, we still had one last class meeting for our photography class, which centered on creating artist books and catalogues through on demand publishing through blurb, and a few of us, including yours truly, printed and bound the books by hand.

after a few days of not doing too much, june is upon us and there are lots of things already on the schedule, many meetings with dear friends from near and far, numerous shows to see in the city, a few receptions for exhibitions i will be showing in, and preparing a syllabus for teaching a foundations course, "idea and form" in july and august. first on the agenda is flying out to marquette, michigan to visit my dear, dear friend kristine, who was kind enough to invite me for a solo exhibition at oasis gallery. so in the midst of term paper writing, grading, and getting ready for final crits, i was also getting work together for the show. i am really happy to be sending work that is new enough for me to not entirely grasp it and see what happens when its all together in one space.

i've got a few more things to wrap up before leaving for mi, so for now i leave you with a few photos.

my studio 2 weeks before final crits...

ps: thanks dear squishy paste friend, kathryn, for keeping me kinda honest.
