CAA will take over my life

The College Art Association annual conference comes to NYC this week. As I mentioned in an earlier post, being that Stony Brook is in close proximity of the city, we are afforded the opportunity to show artwork in the CAA NY Area MFA Exhibition taking place at Hunter College / Times Square Gallery. Thursday and Friday of last week groups of fellow MFAs hauled work into the city and installed the show. Given that nearly 20 schools within 100 miles of New York City are invited to participate, space is at a premium; its a packed show. Stony Brook has a prime spot in the gallery, sharing a roughly 600 sq. ft space with SUNY New Paltz. At the end of the install day Friday we left the gallery exceedingly proud of show we're puttin' on. The show is up from February 9 - April 9, Tuesday - Saturaday 1 - 6 daily. Times Square Gallery, 450 W. 41st St (between 9th and 10th Aves). Opening reception Friday Feb. 11, 6 - 9p. We put together a really lovely MFA Catalogue through blurb books. Check it out, its a pretty sweet book. Blurb is super awesome too, since it is on demand printing, anyone can order the book and it is kept in blurb's online library permanently.

By the time I remembered that I needed to be checking on conference registration for CAA the price had shot up to the point that I could not justify the cost for only being able to attend for 2 days. As it happened, CAA was seeking conference bloggers to attend the conference and related events, scope the scene, interview folks, review conference panels and CAA exhibitions, and post the experience of the 2011 conference (CAA's centennial anniversary, no less). I replied to the call, and I'm officially a CAA Conference blogger. As soon as the blog goes live, I will post the link.
